Contacting Press Officers

Khalid / September 28th, 2009 / No Comments

I’ve been busy with my new project Trout.co.uk and this has prompted me to get the word our about the website to fishing equipment manufacturers. Some of these companies are rather elusive when it comes to finding out the relevant contact person and so a polite e-mail asking for their press officer’s e-mail address began to get my places.

I think I re-wrote my introduction e-mail a few times, tweaking it here and there, before I asked my friend Amy at Desirable.co.uk and Rob at Music.co.uk for their advice. Another draft came back and that was tweaked a little more before it was used as a template to fire away.

I’m really excited about the potential of working with respected companies in the angling industry and making Trout the voice of trout fishing in the UK. I’ve already recruited two four fantastic writers, two who are infamous in the angling sector, and began posting articles covering various topics.

The hope is that the Press Officers will realise the potential of new media and the values bloggers bring to markets and will choose to work with Trout.co.uk for greater exposure in return for their backing.

Watch this space for updates,

Khalid.

Back from Holiday

Khalid / September 22nd, 2009 / No Comments

After a week in sunny Portugal my partner and I returned to half decent weather, although there’s been a few showers here and there. We got to swim with dolphins at the Zoomarine park which was fantastic.

I returned to around 100 emails in total and three times that in spam. Although I had my mobile with me I didn’t want to rack up a massive roaming bill and to be honest, time away from it all is good. I did occasionally check out for any important e-mails and had to provide technical assistance over the phone at one point.

Returning to the daily grind means pushing my new project, Trout.co.uk, which I am extremely excited about. I am an avid trout fisherman and combining both my love for business with my passion for fishing is fantastic! Trout aims to become a leading e-magazine and I’ve recruited some fantastic writers who have written books on the subject and competed in world championships to provide features.

Aside from that the only other project I’m working on is PressureWasher.co.uk which is an affiliate pressure washer website. Currently the site floats between the lower end of page 1 and the upper end of page 2 so I think some backlink building is in order to push it up the ranks a little.

Thanks to Rory, a loyal reader, I sorted out an anti-spam problem with my blog so you should now be able to comment – let me know if there are any other issues, I really appreciate it!

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

An Interesting Week

Khalid / September 11th, 2009 / No Comments

This week has been a busy one both in my personal, professional and business life. I completed my first semi-large corporate deal (which will be included in next month’s earnings) and my earnings picked up again too. The sale of websites that do not fit into my long term strategy over the next year means I have managed to achieve another goal.

I’ve also acquired a new name relating to a hobby I enjoy and will be developing a strategy to create one of the largest websites in the sector; more on this later. One of my sites that was sandbox has re-appeared on page 1 which is fantastic news also and I finally feel I am building the foundations to a prosperous future.

After much discussion over the future of the internet and what different entrepreneurs and friends think, I feel it is vital that I stick to my long term strategy and build projects that in 5 or 10 years till will still be relevant, informative and popular.

Good luck with your pursuits,

Khalid.

August 2009 Earnings

Khalid / September 2nd, 2009 / No Comments

August has been a quiet month as far as starting new projects goes, I’ve been busy finalising a corporate deal and concentrating on the smooth transition over to the new owners.

Upon receipt of the funds I have my eyes on one or two domain names I’d like to purchase with the intent of creating a large magazine style website focusing on a niche that I practise as a hobby and have done since I was a kid.

This month’s revenue comprises of two deals plus a little advertising revenue…

  • Sale of one domain name: £450
  • Sale of one joint venture website: £750 / 2 = £375
  • Adsense: £26.17

Total = £851.17 = $1372.36

This brings my daily earnings to $44.26

Good luck with your pursuits,

Khalid.
