What’s been going on?

Wow, fifteen days since my last update – at least the time spent has been productive! Freelance Content has been doing well, with a few nodes from entrepreneurs such as Al Carlton on SMM and Dave on Twitter. Orders are trickling through keeping me busy and my writers happy.

Complete Minisites, a new service I have offering minisite development, is getting weekly orders which is great and keeping the cash flowing so I can pay for my own project outsourcing. Continually setting up WordPress blogs can be a bit mind numbing but it is worth it!

I recently invested £x,xxx in a generic domain name that I have an NDA on as I am partnering with someone. Things are going well and sales are becoming a daily occurance which is exciting! I’m just waiting on things to calm down before SEO will commence and hopefully sales will rise.

Working hard at my employers is paying off, with their websites doing well and the future looking bright, so bright in fact that competitors are beginning to copy our tactics! I guess it is a compliment but it doesn’t make my life any easier, especially when I’m a one man band here and battling departments!

Competing for the main generic term is an unusual battle as the rankings are changing daily, so I’m working on a few new strategies to help and will monitor the results.

I’m still building my own little affiliate sites like Football Beanbag, Claiming Bankruptcy and Vibrating Rings (NSFW) as they bring in revenue and are assets I can sell should I need to raise cash.

That’s all for now, good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

Two Fantastic Websites for Sale!

Good Morning All,

I’m doing a bit of trimming to my portfolio again and this time I’ve got two new yet established affiliate sites for sale for the price of one!

DownhillBike.co.uk

Exact searches for “downhill bike” as of January 2010 – 33,100 Exact searches for “downhill bikes” as of January 2010 – 22,100

What I’ve done so far…

- Built the website with a custom wordpress theme edit costing £150 - Added 75 downhill bikes/frames - Ranked the website 5th for “downhill bike” - 214 unique visitors for February 2010 - 343 unique visitors for March 2010

Secondary Free Site…

Included in the sale is TriathlonBicycles.co.uk (+ triathlonbicycle.co.uk domain name)

- 373 unique visitors in February 2010 - 116 unique visitors in March 2010 - Ranks third in Google.co.uk for “triathlon bicycles”

Notes…

- I have 100 unique bike for descriptions for the new buyer to add to the main site - downhillbike.org.uk included in sale - Both sites are built on wordpress - Buyer is responsible for moving site over to his/her hosting - Buyer pays Nominet fee - Payment via BACS - Assume no revenue as these sites are new

I’m looking for £1,000 ono for the website and domain names, which is a fair price consdering the generic names, content and amount of work put in.

If you are interested contact me!

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

Introducing FreelanceContent.co.uk

My girlfriend and I are moving to Glasgow next month, where she’ll be studying from September onwards. Between now and then – and whilst she’s studying – she’s working as an article writer. The job offers flexibility which is a major asset to any student!

So,  to make our lives easier and ensure there is an efficient process in place, I’ve setup FreelanceContent.co.uk. Word of mouth has already got the ball rolling and orders are trickling in with 100% positive feedback.

At only £1.30 per 100 words, we’re cheaper than the industry leaders, and there’s no minimum or maximum order so anything can be catered for, providing it is not too technical! Having struggled to find efficient yet affordable writers myself, I’ve even got her doing work for me now!

Payments are taken in advance via Paypal using the online ordering system. So please help my bum of a girlfriend stay in work by ordering through Freelance Content today!

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

February 2010 Earnings

February saw the sale of one of my largest sites and two domain names, which gave me enough money to invest in a new project.

After thinking long and hard I’ve decided to keep what I’m doing under wraps until such times as I am confident it will not damage my efforts. Having previously advised published my latest website I’ve seen copycats pop up here and there. That’s a compliment really, however it can create unneccessary competition at an early stage and potential copied content issues – yes I’ve had someone rip a whole site of mine, even leaving my contact information in place!

I’m extremely excited about 2010 as I’ve just handed my yearly accounts to my accountant, and I’m pleased to announce a small but respectable profit. I treat my business like a savings account and never intend to draw funds from it until such times as I can pay myself a moderate income, so it is nice to see it growing at a slow but steady rate.

So, here’s a breakdown of what I earned in February…

  • Website and domain sales – £4,800
  • Google Adsense – £23.29
  • Affiliate Commissions – £15.43
  • Total: £4838.72 = $7277.45
  • Daily average = $234.76 (I divided by 31 days and not 28)

Not a bad month considering it is just after Christmas!

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.
