Business Strategy 2009 – 2010

Khalid / July 14th, 2009 / 1 Comment

Recently I posted that I intended to follow a strategy that will last until 2018, when I turn 30. The 9 year plan will definately be succeptible to change, however my intentions are to hit specific targets year by year and so providing I am able to do that whilst building my business, it should be a success (fingers crossed!)

Over the past year my $100 a day challenge has come back with mixed results, and on some months I have smashed the target, whilst on others I have failed. Developing and selling websites is profitable, but the true money lies in retaining your profitable assets for long term gains, rather than short term cash flow.

Unfortunately, whilst I had student debt looming over my head I didn’t have this luxury, and so I continued to sell everything I owned until I was “out of the red and into the black”. Now I want to concentrate on retaining assets unless I cannot add to their value.

Between now and 2010 my targets are as follows..

  • All valuable domains have a fully functioning website
  • 1st page ranking for 50% of live websites
  • Monetise ranked websites
  • Sell assets that cannot be built on

The first year will allow me to generate further revenue from any sales and plough that money into websites I intend to retain and/or new ventures.

Check back soon for next year’s business strategy!

Good luck with your pursuits,

Khalid.

June 2009 Earnings

Khalid / July 6th, 2009 / 2 Comments

June was a quiet month for me earnings wise as I have been concentrating on startup projects and not in a rush to sell anything. Adsense project me in just over $60 and I had a few quotes so we could say daily earnings we at $3.

I managed to bag a nice new name back in an old market I used to earn from. The last time I checked the plural was for sale at over £6,000 so my investment at very low £xxx was a bargain in my opinion.

The plan is to rank and monetise this site so it will pay for my part time article writer to update three websites three times per week. I will re-visit these websites in 6 to 12 months once they are established to begin ranking them for their chosen terms.

Good luck with your pursuits,

Khalid.

May 2009 Earnings

Khalid / June 1st, 2009 / 2 Comments

May saw little revenue (from Adsense) until the end of the month when a sale of a small network of sites was completed.

Total revenue: $1681.37

Daily Average: $54.24

Not a bad income considering little/no work has been done, hopefully I’ll sink my teeth into a new project this month and begin earning again.

Good luck with your pursuits,

Khalid.

April 2009 Earnings

Khalid / May 7th, 2009 / 2 Comments

April’s earnings was dominated by the recent sale of Chiropractor.co.uk. In order to ensure I am taking precautions, I cannot disclose an exact breakdown of my earnings as I have previously done.

April’s earnings totalled around $5337.81 which brings my daily average to $178 :)

Good luck with your pursuits,

Sickening

Khalid / April 24th, 2009 / No Comments

As you may or may not know, part of my ambition is to move abroad and this is for multiple reasons. Whilst I appreciate the free education and health care available to us in the UK – amongst other things – I find it difficult to stomach that the idiotic UK government spent more on benefits in 2008-2009 than they did on education or health care!

I fully believe in supporting those that are in need of assistance, for example people who cannot work due to a severe disability or are elderly. But to the thousands that claim benefits illegally, estimated at £800 million in 2005, I fucking hate you.

Sorry for the rant, but I absolutely hate layabouts and people that think that the UK owe them a living. Get a fucking job, I have two!

March 2009 Earnings

Khalid / April 3rd, 2009 / 2 Comments

April saw some changes to my income. I changed a few of my Adsense earnings sites to generate leads which turned out to be fruitful at the beginning but has since dopped off slightly.

Here’s a breakdown of my earnings…

  • Sale of men/ladies mini-sites: £525 = $777.46
  • Site creation and optimisation: £500 = $740.38
  • Google Adsense: $120.71
  • Lead Sales: £45 = $66.63
  • Text Link Ads: $13.47
  • Media Jump: $7.57
  • Adversal: $1.83
  • Total: $1728.05
  • Daily Average: $55.74

Higher than last month, hopefully it’ll continue to grow as I begin promoting my new projects.

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

January 2009 Earnings

Khalid / February 4th, 2009 / No Comments

January was a much better month in terms of PPC revenue, and with the acquisition of Kefalonia I managed to sign up one advertiser at £600 per year. I’ll split this revenue to £50 per month to show consistency. Here’s a breakdown of my earnings…

  • Private Advert: £50 per month for 12 month’s = $75
  • Google Adsense: $196.58
  • Text Link Ads: $24.33
  • Media Jump: $7.52
  • Adversal: $2.94
  • Total: $306.37 – Daily Average: $9.88

Although this is down from last month, the earnings above are from adverts and not website sales. February will be even better (fingers crossed!) and I’ll hit $10 a day = 10% of my goal. Although nearly a year has gone by, if I can make a good go at it and hit 25% by month 12 then I’ll be very happy. Slowly but surely :)

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

2009 Resolutions

Khalid / January 8th, 2009 / No Comments

It is about this time that people tell you their New Year’s resolutions and by far the most popular is to “lose weight” or “go back to the gym”. It is true that the 9-5 rat race the majority of people are trapped in allows very little room for enjoyment. Let’s face it, after a long hard day in the office all you want to do is get back to the comfort of your own home before it begins over the next day.

My New Year’s resolutions are as follows…

  • Get back to the gym – I know I know, the most popular! – I need to improve my cardio fitness and strengthen my back after physio I’ve had recently.
  • Invest for the future – Look further than 6 months down the line, what about in 5 years? If I knew today’s prices of domain names five years ago I would definately have invested everything I had!
  • Build a portfolio – Stop buying and selling so quickly and build a portfolio of strong names/sites that I will lease or sell advertising privately to generate a recurring income.
  • Start a limited company – Begin placing all transactions through a company and build a reputation as a professional outfit.

What are your New Year’s resolutions?

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.
