It is nice to see all my hard work finally paying off and a nice trickle of income coming my way. I’ve been working really hard and I’m glad to see some significant progress. In fact, I can report I have succeeded in achieving my first goal of $10 per day!!!

Here is a breakdown of my earnings for March 2008:

>> Media Jump’s Quick Links: $319.20

>> TTZ Media – $35.10

>> Text Link Ads – $7.50

>> Review Me – $10.00

Achieving my $10 goal

Khalid / February 27th, 2008 / No Comments

On January 1st 2008, I blogged about my goals for the year. One of these was to earn a minimum of $10 per day online profit and I thought I’d dedicate this post to discuss how I’m well on my way to that figure.

My father recently told me “saving your first £1,000 is the hardest, but once you manage it you’ll find it easier to save your next £1,000 and you’ll never want your bank balance to go below £1k again“. I believe the same applies to making money online, infact doing anything that involves a challenge. Your first couple of steps are the hardest and you need to learn to walk before you can run.

My earnings with Media Jump’s quick links fluctuate daily and as they don’t have any sort of tracking or statistics, it is a bit of a guessing game finding out what works and what doesn’t. As you can see from the image below, my earnings up until the 23rd of this month are $120.65, which brings my daily average to $5.24.

Two things I’ve realised is that 1) You should never rely on a single source of income, and 2) you should spread your risks. As a result, I’ve implemented TTZ Media across my biggest sites and spread my risks (income wise) over two companies instead of one.

TTZ provide much better stats similar to Google Adsense and pay a whopping $0.15 per click minimum! This is fantastic news to publishers who are looking to get paid a respectable amount for their efforts. Their fill rate is 100%, the ads are relevant to your keyword(s) and the ad formats are easily edited in their control panel.

I’m looking to manage a CTR of 2-4% which is a reasonable target and one that should turn my goal into an achievement.

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

Earnings Calculations

Khalid / February 14th, 2008 / 5 Comments

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about how I intend to earn enough online for it to become my full time job and main source of income. It has been something that I’ve calculated and re-calculated, considered and edited. I’ve amended it over and over until I had the right amount of sites with the right amount of traffic.

So far I’ve got 15 domains registered. Only a handful are fully developed into websites and even less require continual maintenace. If I break them down into categories and say 5 require a daily update (like a blog post) and get 2,000 uniques per day and 10 require little or no maintenance and get 1,000 uniques per day, I have come to the following conclusions…

5 sites x 2,000 unique visitors = 10,000 uniques overall.

5% of 10,000 = 500 clicks per day.

500 x 0.05 = $25 per day in revenue.

My 10 sites would generate the exact same, totalling $50.

Not a lot is it? Sadly, that’s how the projections are looking.

So I’m aiming for 30 sites by the end of April. Give or take a few dollars on each site and I could be earning $100 per day.

Are my calculations completely wrong? What do you think?

Christmas Eve Roundup

Apologies for not blogging in a while, my cousin was slagging me saying I promised to blog 1-2 times per day then my next post was after a week! I do apologise, sometimes I am just far too busy to update this blog daily and besides, not everyday something new occurs.

Last week was pretty eventful though! I got a new phone due to my old one being faulty. It is a Sony Ericsson K850i with 5mp camera and partial touch screen. It is amazing what you can achieve when you take the time to complain about bad customer service.

sony ericsson k850i

I’m going to try video blogging with it, see how it works out. I’ve got my eye on a webcam but don’t want to purchase one unneccessarily if my phone will do the trick.

On the web front, I’ve been working hard and finished my latest project today! I’ll launch it just after Christmas and perhaps get some reviews completed. I was thinking of using Pay Per Post, has anyone had any success with using them to review a site? If so, leave a comment and let me know, thanks!

Kortaz and Off Beat Ink are both doing well, with featured links on Kortaz completely sold out until January and people waiting to order! I’ve decided to keep a spreadsheet of advertisers and their details to create a mailshot when links will become available.

Similarly, Off Beat Ink is getting between 500 – 1,000 uniques per day, which is a slight drop in traffic but I’ve not spent any money on advertising this month. The site is ranking in SERP’s so I’m hoping more organic traffic will come through soon. The site is averaging $1.5 – $2.0 per day which is money I never had before so I’m happy!

I’ll be posting my goals for 2008 shorlty, watch this space! Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

Working Weekend

As the week drags along and you look forward to the weekend, most people think of relaxing, take it easy, chilling out. Me…I think of time to work on my sites. I’m sure this view is share by fellow webmasters who also have the unfortunate rat race lifestyle I do.

In a bid to keep myself going, I’ve been reading other blogs, watching inspiration youtube videos and thinking of how nice it would be to actually be out my overdraft for a change!

To make things worse, it started snowing here in Scotland today and I got caught in it…lovely eh?

Tonight I’ve got no plans so after eating dinner and tidying up I’ll continue what I started earlier. That consisted of updating OffBeatInk.com, driving traffic to the site, researching new ideas (I can’t help it!) and trying to sell the last few remaning links on Kortaz.com.

With just over 1k uniques per day and no money spent on advertising, OffBeatInk.com is making around the $2 mark. If I could double it by the end of this month and keep it consistant I’d be really pleased. However, waiting on the SERPS updating is a nightmare! Most of my traffic is from November’s exposure, fingers crossed that’ll continue and I’ll get a good search rank…double the traffic…double the earnings?

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

November Earnings

Khalid / December 3rd, 2007 / 1 Comment

November was a rather productive month for me, with Off Beat Ink receiving 60,000 unique visitors despite being only two months old! That was an increase of 40,000 visitors from the past month which I was extremely happy about. The site took in, on average, $2 per day. Although this isn’t a large amount, it is a start.

Kortaz was less productive, only taking in $16 for the month. That was due to the fact I had such a large downtime with Host Nine. However, with the site now hitting 8,000 uniques per day and PR4, I am surprised nobody is requesting to advertise despite me offering links on this thread at Digital Point Forums??? Any ideas?

Finally, Khalid’s Life is back online but not earnings really. As I’ve said before, I never had any plans to monetize this blog however I have placed a Media Links Box on the right hand side below the Blog Rush widget.

I am now at a crossroads, where I wonder whether to continue with Off Beat Ink until the earnings double or triple or move on to another project? I am currently posting 5 times per week on the site and would continue to do so but do I concentrate my efforts monetizing another site? What do you think?

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

Monday turned out to be a good day afterall! Work went quickly, I got a few sales (bonus money!) and I logged on to check my website stats/earnings.

Things are looking brighter and the clouds beginning to fade. I can see a positive future online but I don’t want to spoil the surprise for you…I’ll be posting my earnings at the end of the month along with a number of quality posts explaining how I did it. Afterall, sharing is caring!

In the mean time, I’ll leave you with a few links to keep you occupied…

Disheartened But Still Persistant

Khalid / November 14th, 2007 / No Comments

Checking my earnings daily are becoming depressing. Although I can see I am pulling in a few dollars, it is nothing special. I will never sneeze at any incoming revenue, I am just slightly disheartened as I was expecting more.

I am still waiting, with a glimour of hope, that Tribal Fusion will accept my publisher application for OffBeatInk.com and my earnings will increase. I heard they pay anything from $1.50 upwards CPM which would possibly double my earnings.

My goal, which still stands, is to achieve $150 profit per month over my entire network. I’ll be doing some calculations shortly and will post the results up. Based on my incomings and outgoings, I am definately losing money. However, I am still persistant and determined to become a successful webmaster.

A quote I absolutely adore states, “With love and patience anything is possible“. I’m living by that rule despite spending countless hours with seemingly little progression.

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.
