A blog I regularly read, Self Made Minds, is about two successful internet entrepreneurs who buy and lease domain names amongst other things. They mentioned the lucrative business in emerging technology, much like share buying before a company goes big. An example they used was about the fuel cell boilers Ceres Power was developing. I knew if those guys were talking about it then it must be a possible money-maker.

I was ready to purchase a related domain well before their post but I held off as I wasn’t sure. After reading their post I knew it was a good investment and so I managed to grab www.FuelCellBoiler.net

I wish I could have bagged the .com or .co.uk but I was too late. My plan is to rank it in Google then lease it when fuel cell boilers become readily available. This is a new type of business I am going into, and if it doesn’t work then I’m sure I could sell the name.  I have a few other domains that may become profitable in a few years, this name is my priority though as I’m sure Centrica will push to launch this product as soon as possible.

What do you think of my domain purchase? Was it a wise business investment?
